The QLD Yamaha Girls have done it again, shown their
dominance in women‰Ûªs motocross in their home state of
Queensland aboard their YZ250F machines.
Riders, Tamara
Gray and Brooke Thiemann stood one, two on the podium
after the dust settled on the 2008 QLD Women‰Ûªs Natural
Terrain Motocross Championships at Mundubbera over the
weekend.
Tamara Gray (City Yamaha), who has ‰Û÷done the double‰Ûª this
year claiming both Motocross and Natural Terrain Motocross
Championship‰Ûªs had her work cut out for her at this final round.
With the ‰Û÷best of 3 from 5 rounds‰Ûª format this year, the 25-year
old only had two rounds under her belt heading in to the final
round after breaking her wrist earlier in the year.
It was high
pressure as Gray had to podium overall on the day to squeeze
team-mate Thiemann out of top spot, who already had three
strong rounds tied up.
Gray had a bumpy start to the day in the first moto, finishing 2nd behind Jemma Wilson from the QLD Yamaha Enduro Team
after being tangled up with a group of rider‰Ûªs from the race that stagger starts before hers. Disappointment from the first moto,
motivated Gray in her next two moto‰Ûªs, where she went on to claim two untouchable wins.
‰ÛÏThis last round was especially tough. The track was
demanding and the ‰Û÷Evo‰Ûª bikes that start before us were racing
hard today. They were not keen on letting me by without a
battle‰Û
