Wonthaggi Set To Host 2025 ProMX Championship Opener For Fifth Year

Posted:

Wonthaggi will kick off the 2025 ProMX season for the fifth year in a row.

Wonthaggi’s high-flying status as the opening round in the ProMX Championship will continue into 2025, with the spectacular track in regional Victoria to again kickstart hostilities in Australia’s premier motocross series.

All attention will turn to Wonthaggi for an extended two-day round on the weekend of March 22-23 as the complex hosts the ProMX opener for the fifth successive year with ongoing support from Bass Coast Shire Council.

Wonthaggi has not only become one of the blue-chip rounds in the ProMX Championship because of its spectacular layout, but the picturesque surrounds and wide-ranging hospitality and service options across the region help to make it one of the most accommodating venues on the calendar.

And, like the start of every new season, the anticipation will be intense as all riders – some in new teams and surroundings – start with a blank canvas as the battle to become Aussie motocross champions begins in earnest. For reigning MX1 champion Kyle Webster, Wonthaggi is also his home round as he lives just up the road in Korumburra.

The extended two-day Wonthaggi round will also feature additional support classes which will be announced soon.

Once again, the highly experienced Dandenong Motorcycle Club will run the ProMX opener, which will be the start of an eight-round 2025 championship.

Bass Coast Shire Council CEO, Greg Box, said, “With my ears still ringing from the recent MotoGP, Bass Coast is thrilled to add another exciting motorcycling event to the 2025 calendar.

“We are immensely proud to partner with Motorcycling Australia to bring the ProMX Championship back to Wonthaggi.

“The Wonthaggi Motocross Track is the perfect venue for elite motocross action, and it’s great to see major events return year after year. We look forward to welcoming competitors and fans to experience everything our incredible Bass Coast region has to offer.”

Further announcements on the 2025 calendar will be made in coming weeks, as well as the class composition at each round.
