Wilson MX have made steady progress over the weekend, with Luke Wilson flying the flag solo for the team, at round eight of the Monster Energy MX Nationals at Raymond Terrace.
With Jack Emanuelli still sidelined with a broken arm, the fate of the team rested solely on Wilson‰Ûªs shoulders come race day.
With a dribble of rain overnight at Raymond Terrace, the track was in perfect condition on Sunday morning for the MX2 practice and qualifying session.
The fifteen-minute session provided MX2 pilot Wilson and the team with some hard work to be done, taking 22nd gate pick in a stacked MX2 field.
In moto one, Wilson struggled off the start, getting stuck behind a rider for more than half of the race, resulting in the Queensland based MX2 pilot running out of time to make a charge, finishing in 17th.
Race two saw a huge pile up in the first turn taking down a number of riders including Wilson. Determined to continue racing, he managed to pick up his bike and progress through the field to take 18th position.
In moto three, Wilson recorded his best result of the series. Despite backing off the start after being shaken by the crash in the previous race, the Wilson MX racer charged through the field to take out an impressive 14th place.
When racing concluded on Sunday afternoon, the Wilson MX team took another encouraging overall result, with Luke Wilson taking 16th for the round in the MX2 class.
‰ÛÏMy weekend wasn‰Ûªt too bad." Wilson commented. "Everything seems to be coming together and the team, myself and especially the Honda‰Ûªs are making progress at every round,‰Û
