Errol Willis heads into this weekend's second round of the 2011 Victorian Senior Motocross Championships at Maffra-Sale just three points behind rival Victorian Jake Emanuelli in the A-Grade Lites class.
Willis also finished second overall in the Under-19s class in the fifth round at the 2011 Rockstar Energy MX Nationals at Toowoomba last weekend where he was also three points behind round winner Jay Wilson.
Series commentators for the 2011 Victorian Motocross Championships Kane Atkins and Brad Martin will be looking forward to witness Willis and Emanuelli battle it out for supremacy.
"With the perfect scorecard of 1-1-1, Lewis Woods will be riding high in confidence to continue his fine form from Round 1," continued Martin. Lewis Woods heads the A-Grade Open class over Cameron Taylor and Ross Beaton by just three and four points respectively.
"With Taylor and Beaton now knowing what needs to be done to stay in the rear-guard of Woods, I'm confident this weekend's racing will be on!" remarked Martin.
"Comeback king Jason McGuinness will also definitely be one to keep an eye out for at Maffra-Sale. Although just sneaking into the top ten in Ballarat, with a new bike we are sure McGuinness will better his ninth-place finish," Atkins said.
Australia's No.1 women rider in motocross, Kristy Gillespie and the always-improving Maddy Brown, will both be competing for the points in the newly-created 'Vic Chicks' class. Gillespie, who sits top on 75 points, will be looking to test her skills against the likes of Brown, and Natasha Sant just before the first round of the Australian Women's 2011 MX Nationals to be held at Broadford on June 25.
"The committee and volunteers at the Maffra Motorcycle Club have been working extremely hard to get the Maffra track ready for the Victorian Titles," said Motorcycling Victoria's Motocross Management committee member, Simone Sandwith.
"Maffra have proven themselves in the past at hosting outstanding championship rounds, and I'm sure this weekend will be no different," added Simone.
"The racing at Maffra this weekend will be top-notch, so remember: ride hard, ride fast and try not to come last," added Atkins.
