After seven successful rounds, the 2007 Nokia MX Nationals is in the home-straight as it heads into Round 8 at Wonthaggi, Victoria, this Sunday 22 July. Round 9 will be held in Lakes, NSW and Round 10 in Coolum, QLD.
Last week, the Pro-Open line up looked fragile with the news that 2nd placed Shift Motul Suzuki rider Daryl Hurley had broken his collarbone and that CDR/Nokia Yamaha rider Matt Moss had broken his leg.
This week, things are looking up for at least one of the unlucky contenders. Shift Motul Suzuki Team Manager Jay Foreman said that Hurley had a plate fitted on his collarbone on Monday and would be riding this weekend.
For the CDR/Nokia Yamaha team, the news is not so good. Matt Moss will see a specialist next Monday and does not expect to be back racing any earlier than the final round at Coolum. Climbing back into the saddle for Yamaha however is Cheyne Boyd who will stage his much anticipated comeback from injury at Round 8.
Team Manager Craig Dack said, ‰ÛÏFord Dale is 100% in the lead up to this weekend and Cheyne Boyd has now been back on the bike for three weeks in preparation. Cheyne is ready to ride but may of course be lacking some race fitness after his time off. Cheyne loves the sand track at Wonthaggi though and has always done well there.‰Û
