The Western QBE Victorian Moto Mayhem, held on the Sunday, consisted of a total of seven extreme motorcycle events, which included Supermoto, Moto X, Enduro X, Moto Trials, Pit Bikes, Stunt Riding, and Freestyle Moto X.
It was
Troy Herfoss and
Gina Cleaver that claimed victories in the Western QBE Victorian Moto Mayhem Iron Man and Woman Series' respectively, which was open to riders that were contesting three classes of competition over the event.
Wins in the individual events of the Western QBE Victorian Moto Mayhem included
Michael Reefman (Pit Bikes),
Herfoss (Supermoto),
Justin Carafa (Enduro X),
Craig Anderson (Moto X),
Colin Zarczynski (Moto Trials),
Matt Schubring (Freestyle Moto X), and
Lukey Luke (Stunt Riding).
A healthy contingent of quality riders from seven forms or racing competed in the very first Western QBE Victorian Moto Mayhem event to be held outside of New South Wales, and for the event promotion,
Mark Avard from ASM Promotions, he judged the weekend as a success.
"The Victorian fans really got behind the Western QBE Victorian Moto Mayhem, and they were entertained throughout the weekend with plenty of extreme motorcycle action," said Avard.
"This was a great turnout for the first event at Calder Park, and as this was more or less a test event for the venue, and it worked out good.
"There was no shortage of excitement at these events and spectators even saying to much from the various forms of competition, and the many giveaways that were on offer, certainly gave the fans more bang for their buck, and I strongly believe that next year's and future Moto Mayhem events will only grow bigger and better.
"Some improvements and changes will be made for next year's event at Calder Park on the first weekend of December 2008. The next Oran Park event however is really taking shape with the news of the EVO Moto-Xer's are going to run over the weekend along with the other 7 events, the Oran Park layout will be much more condensed as we are starting to get towards to a formula that really works.
Special guests during the Western QBE Victorian Moto Mayhem included
'Mad' Mike Jones from America, and former Australian Motocross / Supercross Champion
Lee Hogan, who were both judges for the Freestyle Moto X and Stunt Riding competition.
With the Western QBE Victorian Moto Mayhem was held over the Sunday, but the sixth and final round of the SSANGYONG Australian Supermoto Championship was held and it resulted in
Angus Reekie taking out dominant victories in the premier 'S2' class, and also the 'S1' class.
Despite the presence of AMA Supermoto Championship # 3
Troy Herfoss making a cameo appearance in Australia, Reekie simply proved too strong for all of his rivals in the premier 'S2' class, which included Herfoss, by taking double wins, and he scored a clean sweep in the 'S1' class too.
Reekie claimed the overall wins in both the premier 'S2' and 'S1' classes in the SSANGYONG Australian Supermoto Championship in what has simply been a magical year for the KTM Australia supported rider.
Other winners in the final round of the SSANGYONG Australian Supermoto Championship included
Jake Magee (S3),
Greg Timmis (Clubman X),
Cody Jurd (Novice),
Ward Freeland (Veterans),
Rebecca Bateman (Women's), and
Ben McInnes (Juniors).
