WAMX Junior Titles Heads To Collie For Round 2 This Sunday

Posted:

Round 2 of the Make Smoking History WAMX Junior State Championships heads to the Collie Motorcycle Club, with over 200 junior riders expected to make the journey to Collie, located 213 kilometres South West from Perth.

The club hosted an event earlier this month which had many junior riders heading in for some pre state title race time, all searching for the added edge heading into this second round, at the Stockton Park Track.

With a small membership base, the club have worked tirelessly to prepare for the second round of the state championship, the facilities are ready and the track is primed to take the day‰Ûªs motos.

Many riders are now opting to compete in two classes across the season. Track time is shaping up to be the key to strong, consistent results, and also to physical fitness as well. Whoever can bring the complete package to their day is certain to be standing upon a podium step, so let‰Ûªs look at the Round 2 preview.

Kayden Minear leads the 50cc Auto class from Seth Clark and Taj Moore, yet with Jake Rumens collecting some recent strong results, with Tate Paganini and Deacon Paice looking for a podium at Collie.

After one round in the bag, the 65cc class 7-10 years has Tyler Soloman with maximum points from Jake Harvey and Kayden Minear third. The older age group 10-12 Years has Cody Chittick, who was strong at the recent Interclub event at Collie with Myles Gilmore and Liam Atkinson. Hungry for the win and a place in the winner‰Ûªs circle is expected to be a contest between Seth Manuel, Kaj Radcliffe, Bailey Smith, Seth Clark, Harrison Tapper and Cobey Brown.

With news this week that 85/150ccc 12-16 round 1 winner Regan Duffy has been selected to represent Australia in the World Junior MX Championships in Spain, Duffy will be looking for speed and consistency in round two of the Championships. With Mitchell Outram and Corben Weinert throwing up some stiff competition, riders Jacob Daniels, Jai Gimenez, Sam Stephen and Sean Heard will be looking for the smooth lines and maximum points with Rhys Burnett and Christian Silvestro.

In the 9-under 12 class the racing is expected to be as tight as it was for the opening round. If Liam Atkinson can maintain his round 1 results, he will need to keep Cody Chittick, Seth Manuel, Jake Minear and Myles Gilmore well behind him, and the hard charging Evan Browne and Jordan Johnson who are capable of sealing the deal.

With round 1 winner Caleb Grothues racing in Europe, the 100/125cc 13-15 years is an opportunity for riders such as Mitch Outram, Mat Fabry, Austin Ridley, Billy Middleton, Kurt Oinn and Kai Stephen to stamp their authority on this class. The racing was sensational at the opening round, and will be as well if not better heading into round 2 at Collie.

In the older age group, 100/125 cc 15 Years, Justin Hart is in championship winning form. If Tom West and Dale Doutch can capitalise on strong starts they just may be able to stem the Hart juggernaut, yet it will be hard work. There is such depth in this class with Jonathon Hartley, Ryder Smith, Cody Heggs and Kurtis Bickerton were in the top ten with Justin Walker, Dylan Hennessey and Zac Keast at round 1.

At round one in the 128-150cc/250cc class was dominated by Caleb Grothues. Grothues will be a nonstarter at Collie due to commitments in Europe. A betting person would surely look at Justin Hart, Mat Fabry, Jonathon Hartley and Jake Woods for a top position. With talented riders like Dale Doutch, Cory Perkin, Kai Stephen, Justin Walker and Kurtis Bickerton competing in the premiere class, 3 motos and 75 points for a race win is ready for the taking.
