Teenager Rohan Tungate dominated the Up to 450cc four-stroke class at the Australian Dirt Track titles near Mildura on Saturday.
Tungate proved the rider to beat throughout the day's heats, his closest opposition coming from local rider Josh Waters.
It was clear from the outset the title would come down to a battle between the two riders.
Waters, on board the factory Suzuki of Daryl Hurley established himself as a title contender early in the day with some blistering rides around the Jambaroo Park circuit.
Tungate meanwhile was in a class of his own as he acclimatised to the Sunraysia track.
When it came to the final Tungate had all the answers and took the win ahead of Waters and defending champion Luke Gough.
Gough had a day of ups and downs and showed flashes of brilliance, but an inconsistent run throughout the day's heats made life tough for the New South Welshman, who was forced to race through the repercharge to get a place in the all important final.
Gough eventually finished third overall in one of his last rides before heading to the United States next year.
The 250cc four-stroke class provided some of the closest racing of the day and the final will go down as one of the tightest finishes in recent years.
Damien Koppe, Luke Richards and Josh Waters proved the riders to beat.
All three were very evenly matched around the Jambaroo Park circuit and waged a titanic battle in the final at the end of the day.
There was nothing splitting the three riders throughout the final as the entire field set a frenetic pace.
The heat went right down to the wire, but it was Damien Koppe who took the win from Richards and a hard charging Josh Waters.
In the sidecar division Barry and Ernie Raffin clinched the 2007 1100cc sidecar title from Rodney O'Meley and Beau Stangle and Daryl Woodhead and Rod Hope in a class which provided not only some spectacular racing, but some spectacular offs throughout the day.
