Moto2 points leader Toni Elias was exluded from taking part in Moto2 free practice at Brno after Race Direction imposed sanctions following a team test at Misano, Italy, on Sunday August 8th, which was an infringement of the 2010 FIM Road Racing World Championship regulations.
That meant that Russian rookie Vladimir Ivanov was the only Team Gresini representative on track for the opening Moto2 free practice.
Team owner Fausto Gresini said, "Itå«s tough to see Toni Elias looking so disappointed in the pit box with his number 24 Moriwaki MD600. It was a mistake we obviously didnå«t want and I hope Toni and his team are able to make up for lost time tomorrow with the enthusiasm and determination that they are known for. Thatå«s definitely the best way to put this unfortunate incident behind us."
Vladimir Ivanov, who finished 27th fastest said, "Flying the flag for Team Gresini on my own was a big job for me and I tried my best but Iå«m not satisfied. After the result at Sachsenring I was expecting a much higher level of performance today. I like the track but at the moment I am too far off the pace of the top fifteen. Weå«ll try and make up for it tomorrow."
