Repsol Montesa-HRC rider Toni Bou clinched another superb victory at the second round of the FIM Indoor Trial World Championship 2007 held in St. Petersburg, last weekend.
The Spaniard completed an awesome ride that puts him clearly ahead of compatriot's Albert Cabestany and Adam Raga, who were separated by just two points in second and third.
"I‰Ûªm really satisfied with my performance," Bou said. "I cannot ask for more after two wins in two rounds. I took a little advantage from Raga‰Ûªs mechanical problem. I hope to go on like this in coming events."
Raga suffered a broken exhaust pipe in section 3 which affected his concentration for the rest of the competition.
"When my exhaust broke I lost the concentration and the situation affected me also in a psychological way. I was very worried the engine was not affected," said Raga. "We could fix a little the mechanical problem but, anyway, I was not able to do my best today," concluded the GAS GAS rider.
Cabestany obtained his first podium of the season after the bitter debut in Granada, when a mechanical problem forced him to retire. The Sherco rider made some mistakes on final lap that gave Bou a bit of a break.
"I did a very good first lap, in which I rode consistently on the sections. On the other hand, I committed important mistakes in the final that impeded me to fight for the win. Anyway, I‰Ûªm convinced that I can ride at the highest level and chase with Bou for victories," commented Cabestany.
Dougie Lampkin was out of the chase for the final when he committed a huge mistake on high jump, adding five points that closed the door to the final and put him in a poor fifth position. Lampkin's team-mate Takahisa Fujinami had to resign himself to the fact that fourth place was the best he could do.
