After a successful outing at the opening round of the Internazionali d‰ÛªItalia MX Sidi Series in Riola last weekend, Red Bull IceOne Husqvarna Factory Racing's Todd Waters headed to Castiglione del Lago for round two of the Italian motocross championship.

For Waters, the second round of the Italian series delivered another pair of strong results. Fairing well on the technically demanding track, the Australian battled his way from a mid pack start to end the MX1 race in ninth.

Waters then continued to improve both his pace and his results jumping up three places in the Elite race that combines the top MX1 and MX2 riders, finishing in sixth position.

‰ÛÏWe made a lot of progress with both the bike and myself this weekend and I think it showed." Waters stated. "On a track that was super difficult to pass on ‰ÛÒ it became very one lined due to the mud ‰ÛÒ I managed to fight my way from 13th to ninth in the MX1 race.

"The Elite race was another step forward and a better start resulted in a sixth place finish," Waters added.

It was David Philippaerts who claimed the win in the MX1 class for the round ahead of Waters team-mate, Max Nagl. Current MX1 world champion finished down in 5th position, allowing Nagl to take over the MX1 championship points lead after two rounds.

Tim Gajser extened his points lead in the MX2 class taking the round win ahead of Benoit Paturel and Alessandro D'Angelo.

Nagl proved to be to strong in the Elite final, winning the race ahead of Tommy Searle and David Philippaerts, with Cairoli again finishing in 5th position, just ahead of Waters.

The win for Nagl moved him into third place in the Elite standings, just five points behind Cairoli and Searle who are tied for the points lead.
