Tim Weigand wins 2005 ‘King of the Cross’

Posted:

The "King of the Cross" has been run and won for 2005. The small farming town of Southern Cross in Western Australia ran its annual race in perfect conditions. Southern Cross Motorcycle club along with a host of enthusiastic local businesses and generous farming families really make this event amazingly unique. It sure made for an experience of a lifetime for one fast American too! Coming off an 11th place finish at the Washougal MX national the previous weekend in the USA after a first moto crash, Bloodshot inc sponsored Californian Timmy Weigand made it look fairly easy on Sunday amongst some tuff competition from Tom Jones, Paul Broomfield, Lee Ellis, Cody Mackie and a host of local fast guys including Michael Addison and Carl Pickersgil. Weigand's "The Honda Shop Midland" prepared CRF450 never missed a beat all day. The final 8 lap moto with the big pay cheque at the end was all Weigand after a brief challenge from Tom Jones in the opening lap. Weigand then went on to learn Goanna wrestling (does not involve goannas) amongst other Aussie traditions in the after race celebrations! Timmy Weigand thaked the Beaton family for all there hospitality as well as Pro Circuit, LJ Hooker and M&J engineering for all there support. Look out for Timmy Weigand #59 at an Aussie race or an AMA national near you real soon. Australian enquiries can be directed to ashleymx@arach.net.au Main Photo: Tim Weigand
