American Website VITAL MX has broken the news that Justin Barcia will sit out the upcoming rounds of the 2016 Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship due to a thumb injury.
Barcia suffered the thumb injury prior to the start of the season and despite pushing through the discomfort and pain during the opening two rounds of racing the JGRM / Autotrader / Monster Energy / Factory Yamaha Team
rider will miss the upcoming races due to going in for surgery to fix his injured thumb.
It has been a tough start to the season for Barcia's team after his team-mate Weston Peick being disqualified from the opening round and suspended from round two after a on track altercation with Vince Friese during his heat race at the season opener at Anaheim.
The teams fill in rider Phillip Nicoletti filled in this weekend at San Diego for the suspended Peick finishing 21st in the main event and is now expected to continue to ilne up for the team in place of the injured Barcia.
