Team Motul Suzuki's Matt Moss continued his consistent effort in the 2014 Monster Energy MX Nationals, Australian Motocross Championship, at Conondale in Queensland on Sunday, finishing second overall.
The runner-up result sees defending MX1 champion Moss maintain his lead in the series, now carrying an 18-point advantage into the final three rounds of the season aboard the championship-winning RM-Z450.
Moss started his day out at Green Park in fine form with the Super Pole win, and he went on to win the opening moto of the round in convincing fashion. Third in moto two and a second in the final moto to conclude the round earned Moss second overall - just two points from the overall.
"Conondale was another good round for me," Moss stated. "To get Super Pole was really good and then of course to win the first moto was also great for the championship. It was unfortunate to come together with my brother [Jake] in moto one, which kind of put a damper on the day for me.
"The track was different to what we expected, it was pretty hard and really slippery, so it was hard to be aggressive. We didn't win overall, but I scored solid points and was consistent so we will move forward to the next rounds from here I'm really happy to leave that round with this result."
