Round 6 of the Australian Superbike Championship will be held at Phillip Island this weekend and Team Honda Racing are focused on continuing the winning momentum of the previous events and bridging the gap to the top spot in the Superbike and Supersport championships.
Having taken round honours at the last 3 events in the Superbike category, Team Honda Racing is looking to place the Honda CBR1000RR on the top 2 steps of the podium this weekend at Phillip Island.
Maximum points are needed for #47 Wayne Maxwell and #27 Jamie Stauffer and both riders will be making the most of today‰Ûªs half-day practice to prepare for the battle ahead.
A break in the ASBK racing calendar in July saw Stauffer and Maxwell head to Japan to compete in the Suzuka 8 Hour Endurance race and they did not disappoint! Finishing the gruelling 8 hour race in the dark the 2-man team finished in 6th place for the Dream RT Sakurai Honda Team.
Likewise, Josh Hook did not hang the leathers up for long during the gap in events, competing in the Asia Dream Cup for Honda in China taking 3rd place for the round.
Hook goes into this weekend‰Ûªs ASBK event in 2nd place in the Supersport championship just 2 points behind the top spot. Recent testing onboard his CBR600RR would indicate that Hook will race extremely well at Phillip Island and is well and truly in the running for the championship title.
As the team head into the penultimate round of the championship, the team would also congratulated Jamie and his wife Emma on the birth of their 3rd child, Ruby, born on the 6th August.
