Suzuki unveils new DR-Z70

Posted:

Suzuki Australia has taken the wraps off its all-new DR-Z70 junior dirt bike, due to be released in Australia for the first time in September. Suzuki have designed a bike specifically for young riders, with the aim being that the new DR-Z70 should be the perfect tool for those learning the fundamentals of riding or developing their skills. The DR-Z70 is powered by an all-new 70cc, twin-valve, 4-stroke, SOHC, air-cooled engine. An electric starter and handle-bar start button means the DR-Z70 is also simple to get going. Alternatively, riders can kick start the DR-Z70, and there's the security of a keyed ignition to provide maximum parent control. The DR-Z70 features a 3-speed, semi-automatic transmission with centrifugal clutch. Accompanying a 10-inch rear wheel, the Suzuki DR-Z70 is also the first to combine a 70cc engine with a 10-inch front wheel. Front and rear drum brakes equip the DR-Z70 with strong stopping power, while a new, adjustable front brake lever caters for growing hands, and provides maximum comfort and control. Inverted telescopic front forks produce 3.8 inches of wheel travel and combine with a linkless rear swingarm to deliver enjoyable riding on a variety of surfaces. With styling inspired by its bigger brothers - the RM-Z250 and RM-Z450 - the DR-Z70 has a race-style look that stands out from the crowd, and is available in an aggressive Champion Yellow or bold Black paint scheme. A lightweight and durable steel frame provides great handling, and allows the DR-Z70 to weigh in at just 53.0kg, the lightest of its starter-motor equipped class rivals. According to Suzuki rider comfort hasn't been sacrificed, with a low 22 inch seat height chosen to suit young riders, while a slightly forward-leaning riding position ensures maximum mobility. Due to arrive in Australia in September, the all-new Suzuki DR-Z70 will be available for an SRP of $2,299 (inc. GST). SUZUKI DR-Z70K8 SPECIFICATIONS
