These are some of the first spy photos of the Suzuki RM-Z450 prototype works bike. The bike will make its debut this weekend (Oct-26)
For the final round of the All Japan Motocross Championships, it is expected that 2003 250 Japanese MX Champion Narita Akira will ride the bike in its first outing.
Joel Smets will ride the bike in its first full season racing during the 2004 world GP season. The hot rumor around the traps is that a prototype will soon be in the U.S and tested by Greg Schnell. Suzuki in the US are able to race the bike next season under their one bike development plan, this means basically that any manufacturer can run a prototype for one season, other then that they have to race commercially available models. Yamaha used their allocation with the YZ426 and Honda with the CRF450.
No specifications have been released as yet but in a previous release Suzuki announced it would run a high-tech DOHC, four-valve, 449cc, liquid-cooled motor that will be housed in a new-concept aluminum frame, utilising various race and championship-winning technologies from the ultra-successful GSX-R development program, plus new technologies from their multiple-world championship winning RM motocross development program.
