The 2009 MA sanctioned 'FIM Supermoto National Championship' will be held in WA at the Wanneroo International Kart Track in Wattle Avenue, Pinjar. The two round event will be held between the 27th November - 29th November. To add a little excitement the second round, to be held on the Sunday, will be run in the opposite direction.

This event follows on from the highly successful final round of the championship in 2008, which was held in conjunction with the Northam Motorcycle Festival. The Northam event was attended by the cream of Australia's Supermoto riders and also featured Italian Supermoto champion, Davide Gozzini, who blitzed the field on his TM450 in a stunning show of speed and skill. Gozzini was also the runner-up in the S2 class World Championship. Mr. Joe Grasso, the WA TM distributor, was instrumental in bringing Gozzini to Australia for last year's event and informed me, "I'm confident that Davide will return to compete again this year, and there is a strong possibility that his team mate Andrea Occhini can also be persuaded to make the trip as well." At the present time Mr. Grasso along with one of the Franzone TM Racing team riders, Brett Stewart are in Italy competing in the fourth and fifth rounds of the Italian Supermoto Championships. The Wanneroo track is longer than the Northam street circuit at 1100mt and features a dirt section with two jumps. The ratio of bitumen to dirt is 80% to 20%. The club regularly holds race meetings there and the direction of racing usually alternates from one meeting to the next. The circuit features covered pits with lighting, plenty of parking, grassed spectator viewing areas, a small grandstand, a canteen and toilet facilities. In addition to the racing, the event will feature motorcycle demonstrations by various clubs, trade displays, show-and-shine competitions and other attractions. More details will be made available as they come to hand.
