The first official test for the Moto2 class in the off-season 2010 took place just a day after the season closing race at the Ricardo Tormo circuit in Valencia, Spain.
Tom LÌ_thi, who finished his first Moto2 season with a fourth position on Sunday, was testing the Suter chassis of Eskil Suter and is more than happy with the first impressions.
The 24 year old Swiss rider lapped in a time which was just two tenth of a second slower than his qualifying time of last Saturday. LÌ_thi's Team will test again in a private test after a two days break on Thursday in a private test on the Ricardo Tormo Circuit to get more impressions of the Suter chassis and to build the best possible base for a successful season 2011.
"My first impression of the Suter was really good," LÌ_thi said. "We were able to ride some laps today and I had a nice feeling. We can be satisfied with the lap times of my first test with this bike and the test day was really positive."
Team Manager Terrell Thien added, "We received the Suter in parts and built the chassis yesterday to have as much time as possible for testing today. The team was really working hard and the first impressions have shown that the hard work is paying off. Tom's lap time was just two tenth slower than his qualifying time here and this is a good result for a first test with a new bike, that he doesn't know yet. Thursday we will test again in a private test on this race track and then we will have a break."
