Successful 2014 Track Masters Held At Barleigh Ranch

Posted:

The Hunter Motor Cycle Club‰Ûªs annual Trackmasters long track meeting was staged at the Barleigh Ranch Raceway over the weekend of March 22 and 23 and provided plenty of close, exciting racing.

Even with several stand-out performers there was inevitably still good battles back in the pack as every placing was hard fought.

Lachlan Ellis dominated the Pro 250 class with an unbeaten run over the five rounds, while Jack Passfield and Nick Lahey emerged as next best in a very competitive field.

Both the Pro 450 and Pro Open classes were decided by finals, with Tony Thomas winning both. His only blemish at the meeting was when he stalled on the starting grid in one heat of the Pro Open, but he won both finals in an emphatic manner.

Following Thomas home were Carew Dickinson and Michael Booth, who also won the Over 35s class, with Alex Giffin third in both finals.

Mathew Griffiths was dominant in winning all rounds of the Quads.

Junior racing again highlighted the fact that there is some great talent coming through the dirt track ranks. Max Stauffer, Senna Agius, Jack Hyde, Caleb Porter, Sam Davies, Mackenzie Childs and Mitchell James were among the impressive junior performers.

Girls winner Tia Davis deserves a big wrap as she also grabbed minor placings in two open classes against the boys.

The Barleigh Ranch track has copped its share of criticism in the past, but last weekend there was nothing but praise from the riders who were well pleased with the conditions presented and hopefully the word will spread to boost numbers at future meetings at the venue.
