Extreme weather conditions made the going tough for Victoria's top junior and female riders as they battled it out in Honda Grom's and Girls on the Gas Competitions.
This years Vic round of the competition was held at the Outtrim 'Korumburra' motocross club in Gippsland, Victoria.
It was clear at Monday morning's riders briefing that the weather did not phase any of our Victorian athletes and they were eager to proceed throughout the clinics schedule.
Last year's Victorian leg winners
Sarah Stubbs and
BJ Currie were present at the event and looking to defend their crowns!
From the opening laps of the first practice session it was obvious that this was going to be a fierce competition as the young athletes showed off some outstanding talent.
As the points got tallied at the end of the event it was Honda rider Sarah Stubbs who dominated the majority of the categories winning the overall just a couple points shy of a perfect score.
Young gun rider
Jordy Allen had an outstanding ride aboard her KTM 65cc and came in with a very respectable second place overall on the smaller machine.
Rounding out third place on the podium was local Outtrim rider and regular in the Honda Girls on the Gas Competition
Jade Taylor.
In the Honda 'Groms on the Gas' competition it came right down to the wire between two riders with only one category to go, the shuttle run deep test.
Both BJ Currie and Luke Nowell scored an equal first in the 'rider technique' category. A win for BJ Currie in the lap time sector and a solid second placing for Luke Nowell left one point separating them going into the shuttle run beep test leaving no room for error.
Luke Nowell came away with the win in the shuttle run beep test while BJ Currie could only manage a third placing, giving Luke Nowell the overall win for the Honda 'Groms on the Gas' competition by a narrow one point margin.
BJ Currie scored a solid second placing overall for the event while local young gun
Thomas Taylor hopped up onto the podium for the first time in the national series.
"I am very proud of all our riders! Not only did they face 100kmh winds and torrential rain but we even had a earth quake present itself at midday Sunday," said event Director
Lee Hogan.
The Honda Grom's and Girls on the Gas Competition heads next to Darwin in the Northern Territory on 27th and 28th August.
