Motorcycle sales rose in the first quarter of 2026, led by strong off-road and scooter
segment performance, according to data released today by the Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries.
From January to March 2026, 20,624 motorcycles, off-highway vehicles, and scooters
were sold, representing a 7.4 per cent increase over the same period in 2025.
The off-road segment recorded the highest growth, rising 26.7 per cent year-on-year
to 8,737 units.
‘Scooter sales rose 7.8 per cent to 1,431 units. In contrast, road motorcycle sales fell
3.2 per cent and off-highway vehicles declined 9.2 per cent compared to 2025.
FCAI chief executive Tony Weber stated the results indicate a mixed but encouraging
start to the year.
“The first quarter results show solid growth, primarily due to strong performance in
the off-road segment, driven by recreational demand,” Mr Weber said.
“These figures are for a period too early to see any impact from conflict in the Middle East and global fuel uncertainty, but an increase in interest in road motorcycles and scooters as an alternative form of urban transport can be expected.”
