The opening round of the Supermoto State of Origin series commences this weekend with a full line up of top Australian riders competing on one the fastest Supermoto tracks in OZ - Oran Park.
Top level regular Supermoto racers Bennett, Avard, Altham, Cheney, Taplin, Kain, Macfarlane will be there, along with new blood from some top level Moto-x, Dirt Track and Road racers.
The new Suzuki RMZ450 will finally make a NSW appearance in the hands of two racers who are new to Supermoto madness, Mark Kirkness and Simon Goodchild.
A return to Supermoto competition after a four month lay off is the 2003 Championship runner up, Subway Yamaha rider Adam Altham. Altham injured his leg after a training mishap has concentrated on machine preparation and is using the meeting as a stepping stone to the upcoming National Supermoto Championship.
"I have had a couple of practice runs to see how my leg is and its get sore but its manageable. I know that once the racing starts I will not be able to hold back but the main reason that I am going to Oran Park to continue the recovery to full fitness and get up to speed. All the guys that are going to be on the pace at the major races will be there so there is no other better place to get amongst it and to see how we are progressing" said Altham
A full program of Support events will be run with the new Pro/Expert format. Great close racing is assured at the excellent spectator venue.
