Speedway bikes are back on the big arena of the new generation Sydney Showground with the Grand Final of the 2008 Aussie title on Friday, Jan 11.
It‰Ûªs the Linddales Aust. Speedway championship, staged over 20 heats with all-in B and A Finals.
Last year‰Ûªs historic return to the Showground was a major fillip for the punishing sport which is wowing crowds throughout Europe and the UK.
The new Sydney Showground at Homebush Bay is a Sydney 2000 Olympics venue in the geographic heart of the city and ranks one of the finest speedway facilities in the world.
It boasts excellent transport and parking, perfect lighting, and seating and viewing for all spectators.
This year young guns such as World Under-21 runner-up Chris Holder face international competition from Sweden, Czech Republic and Great Britain.
As well, the Showground program will feature the 350cc Juniors ‰ÛÒ the Under-15 years stars of tomorrow -- together with backflippin‰Ûª Freestyle demonstration, a fireworks lightshow and the awesome Blazing Jet Van.
