The opening ceremony for the 18th Commonwealth Games was held in Melbourne last night,
and featured a gaggle of Moto Trials riders displaying their wares with ‰ÛÒ and this makes
perfect sense - ballerinas.
The 'lead' Moto Trials rider was none other than 23-year-old Victorian Trevor Campbell, who is a perennial top 10 finisher in the national championship. Moreover, in 2005, Campbell also combined with countrymen Michael Byrne, Dylan Rees and Colin Zarczynski to produce Australia's best-ever result in a Trial des Nations ‰ÛÒ second place.
"I was first invited to be a part of the opening ceremony last November," said Campbell. "What generated the initial interest was that some Commonwealth Games organisers saw the Moto Trials demonstration at the 2005 Australian Motorcycle Expo in Melbourne, and loved it.
"They thought it would be something different, which, from what I've been hearing this morning, was certainly the case."
