Jack Simpson will look to use intimate knowledge of his home track to gain advantage in the A Grade 125 / 150cc class when Round 3 of the 2011 Victorian Junior Motocross Championships rolls into Rosebud on June 18-19.
The Rosebud & District MCC member sits just 39 points behind one of Victoria's rising stars, Yamaha's
Joel Milesevic. Simpson also sits on equal points, 133 apiece, with
Wayde Carter in the A Grade 85 / 150cc class.
"Everyone will be out to chase Jack Simpson in the 85cc and 125cc classes," said
Michael Burns, president of the Rosebud & District Motorcycle Club.
"That's his home track, and he's the sand master," added Burns.
Asked whether Victoria's young talent has improved from past championships, Burns replied: "Most definitely.
"The younger kids now, in my mind, are getting faster. Their skill base has really improved from where it was two or three years ago, as a comparison. Their times are just getting quicker and quicker.
"The top ten riders now are putting in more effort in their training, coaching and their skills, and it's showing up in their lap times.
"On a state basis, there's no doubt that our juniors are getting faster and better," remarked Burns.
Rosebud & District Motorcycle Club's dedicated volunteers has put in countless of hours rebuilding and repairing the sandy track. "All the jumps are in the process of being redone, and it will be in perfect condition for the round.
"We're pretty confident that the track will be in great condition; it'll be rideable. There'll be no-way in the world it'll be washed out, so everyone can come down and enjoy their fun in the sand."
"Rosebud MCC is feeling the pressure, because the previous two rounds that have been hosted by Horsham and Cobram have been outstanding events. We're quite weary of that.
"We're pulling out all stops to make sure ours is as good, if not a better event, then their rounds."
Round 3 of the Victorian Junior Motorcross Championships will be held at Rosebud & District Motorcycle Club on June 18-19, 2011.
