The South Australian Off Road Championship (SAORC) for 2013 will be determined over 6 rounds of competition. All Off Road competition formats, being Sprint, XCountry and Enduro will be run in 2013 proving a real test for competitors.
The Series showcases the exceptional bike handling capabilities of riders as they tackle different terrain and obstacles on often very technical courses.
These conditions also test the rider‰Ûªs fitness and concentration, resulting in finishing often being a great achievement, let alone the thrill of beating the best in SA for a win.
2013 sees the return of many long time series sponsors, with some increasing their contribution in recognition of the great series the SAORC has become. It also sees Ariel, Gawler, Juventus, Velocette and Keyneton Motorcycle Clubs host rounds of the series.
‰ÛÏMajor events, particularly multi-round series such as the SAORC cannot be run without commitment from host clubs and the generous support from our sponsors." Chris McArdle, General Manager for Motorcycling SA, stated.
"Gold Sponsors Yamaha Australia (Seniors) and GroveScaff (Juniors) have been massive supporters of the SAORC for many years, and we look forward to continuing this relationship.
‰ÛÏWithout clubs and their committed volunteers and officials no sport can happen so a big thanks to those clubs for enabling the series to occur," he added.
Silver and Bronze Series sponsors include Full On Moto Parts, Flinders Motorcycles, Hoey, KTM/Husaberg, and Motorcycling SA appreciated all of their support.
The Pro class will again see defending champion Ivan Long as the one to beat. As always he will come under pressure from SAORC regulars, Rowan Pumpa and Nick Throup, but will also have to contend with MX gun Luke Arbon who is planning on hitting the trails for the SAORC this year.
Other classes have some great performers to watch with up and coming Rhys Fischer, Dion James and youngsters Todd Barry stepping up to Seniors and exciting talent William Price in the Juniors.
2013 will also see a Veterans/Masters Class which it is hoped will bring some past champions back to the sport, and also provide more mature riders the opportunity to compete against riders of a similar age and approach.
The 2013 Series kicks off with an exciting collaboration with two wheels meeting four when the Juventus MCC hosts the Juventus Forest Sprint at Mount Crawford (Forties Road) as part of Scouts Rally SA, a round of the 2013 East Cost Bullbars Australian Rally Championships on Sunday 26 May 2013.
‰ÛÏThe opportunity to combine the SAORC with the Scouts Rally SA is a perfect way to enable spectators to see double the action when heading to Mount Crawford Forest‰Û
