Safety concerns hit World Supermoto qualifying

Husqvarna's Gerald Delepine has qualified fastest for this weekends round of the World Supermoto Championship at Bilstain, Belgium. Controversy has dogged the opening day with the KTM Red Bull Junior Euro Cup team simply withdrawing its whole team for safety reasons. In the S2 class the current top five of Verderosa, Giraudo, Jerome, Gozzini, Lecoanet and Balducci all boycotted qualifying, also for safety reason. This left a new look front row with Marcel van Drunen giving Yamaha their first pole position followed by Thierry Godfroid who put the Kawasaki name up there. In the S1 class KTM stated that Husqvarna's Eddy Seel wanted to ride as it was his home track leaving no option for competitors to go out or risk losing valuable championship points. The move paid of well for Seel's team mate Gerald Delepine when he beat the 2003 World Champions to the number one spot by just over a tenth of a second. Championship leader Thierry van den Bosch finished third. Full coverage of the race will be on Fullnoise after the event, results will be posted at the race finish.
