Motorex KTM factory rider Ryan Marmont is making a return to racing this Saturday, September 22 at the Canberra Stadium Motocross, after taking over five months off to recover from surgery to his ankle.
Marmont's return will also see him step up from his Pro Lites career to debut the KTM 450 SX-F in the Pro Open, a racing class he will focus on with Motorex KTM factory racing heading into 2008.
Back in April this year, Ryan Marmont had to withdraw from the Australian Motocross Championship and hasn't been back on the bike in a competition event since.
Marmont will use this weekend's Canberra Stadium Motocross as a training ground for future race preparation on the KTM 450 SX-F including the up coming New Zealand Motocross Championship and the Supercross Masters in Brisbane
Commenting on his return to racing, Ryan Marmont said, "Now that my brother Jay has moved onto a different team, KTM gave me the offer to ride in the Pro Open class. I had a few test rides and decided it was the way to go, especially for the motocross.
"I will now be competing against my brother in national events and many people are asking and wondering, if when it comes to the crunch will either of us ease up to give the other an edge. The answer is no, we're just as competitive as each other and although it would be good to see him on the podium as well, I will be racing for the win.
"In testing the KTM 450 SX-F, I haven't pushed the bike to its limits yet, I'm just wanting to ease back into riding, because the doctors have only just given me the all clear to get back on the bike.
"From what I have tested so far, I'm really happy with the bike and look forward to seeing how I go on the race track."
Ryan Marmont's upcoming race schedule includes the Canberra Stadium Motocross on 22 September, a four round New Zealand Motocross Championship commencing on 29 September in South Canterbury, followed by the Brisbane Supercross Masters on 6 October.
