Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross red plate holder Chad Reed is out to capture his fourth overall victory of the season as the championship hits the heights of Colorado's Thunder Valley.
The TwoTwo Motorsports/Bel-Ray Racing rider heads to the fifth of 12 rounds with momentum on his side after a solid victory at Budds Creek a week ago.
The 3-1 result saw the Aussie bag a bundle of championship points and he is looking to build on the 15-point gap to second-placed rider Ryan Villopoto this weekend.
Reed has not won at Thunder Valley previously, and knows it will take a concerted effort to hold off his closest championship challengers.
"I rode tight and messed up my lines in the first moto at Budds Creek, I really focused on coming back from this and was able to improve to pick up that all-important moto win," said Reed.
"It was good to bounce back and put TwoTwo Motorsports on the podium there but unfortunately I wasn't able to make any points on Ryan Villopoto.
"Racing at Thunder Valley is a challenge ‰ÛÒ we're higher up in the mountains and the air is a little thinner which affects both the bike and the rider.
"I know I'm fit and I've got a dedicated group of guys working on the bike so I'm not too concerned. We'll just get out there and put in the work to keep this good run of results alive and hopefully take the red plate away at the end of it again."
On previous occasions, the Thunder Valley races have been held under lights, but this weekend's pair of 35-minute motos will play out in the daylight.
Australian viewers can watch round 5 of the Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross on SPEED TV from 1.00-2.30pm on Sunday June 26.
