TwoTwo Motorsports' Chad Reed is aiming to factor at the front of the pack at this week's Daytona International Speedway event, a week after win went begging in Atlanta.
A 'home' round for the Aussie, who bases himself in the US for much of the year, Daytona has been a happy hunting ground in the past, the site of three Main Event wins.
Reed is fired up following the last Monster Energy AMA Supercross outing where he clashed with rival James Stewart, re-igniting a rivalry that had laid dormant.
Despite the outcome, Reed remained optimistic and said that he was pleased with his pace during the race.
"The main thing to take away from Atlanta was that we were fast and the bike was comfortable and confident at the front of the pack," said Reed. "The end result was that a possible win became a third place, which was disappointing, but we still scored solid points.
"I love racing at Daytona, the track and the atmosphere are something else and I always seem to find that little bit extra there.
"There's no reason we can't be strong again this weekend. We're improving the bike all the time and I'm getting faster, cleaner starts as a result."
Reed will look to bridge the gap to Stewart in second place this weekend. He is currently 11 points away, and a further 10 points off the lead of Ryan Villopoto.
