Raceline Pirelli Suzuki were handed some of their most positive results at round eight of the Monster Energy MX Nationals, with MX1 fill in Hayden Mellross earning top ten results at Raymond Terrace.
After both team riders Geran Stapleton and Dylan Wilson were late exclusions from round eight, Raceline called in Suzuki backed Mellross to represent the team at the eighth installment of the series.
The fifteen-minute qualifying session provided Mellross with 15th gate pick in the talent packed Monster MX1 class, to kick-start his round eight campaign.
With a less than ideal gate pick, Mellross took position on the grid on the far outside which meant a tough battle to the front of the pack lay ahead of him. By the conclusion of the moto the 18-year-old up and comer, had made his way to astounding sixth position.
Moto two was the toughest of the day. Again with a tough gate pick Mellross battled hard throughout the twenty minutes to make his way up to 11th position.
In moto three, the young star showcased his talent. Changing his starting position to the inside gate, Mellross launched off the grid, narrowly missing the hole shot. However inexperience in running up front affected the youngster, fading from second to seventh throughout the race.
When round eight concluded, the 18-year-old Suzuki backed rider finished in seventh overall. An exception result for Mellross, who is in his rookie year racing the MX Nationals.
