Following a challenging first round in unexpected conditions, the riders have been treated to some great Off-Road Enduro action during the third round of the Australian Off-Road Championship (AORC) in Goomburra, Queensland.
After scrutineering the bikes and all riders having singed in, racing started at 9:00am Saturday morning. The trail took the riders through a challenging circuit over two mountains with different kind of conditions.
The two one-hour loops incorporated two special tests in each loop ranging from rocky, gnarly, off camber test to fast flowing motocross natural terrain tests.
Outright winner for the third round went to,
Toby Price (KTM Motorex), who showed the field a clean set of heels by winning all eight tests setting a time of 37:25. Second place,
Chris Hollis (37:58), managed to edge out third place,
Daniel Milner (Yamaha CDR Team) by only eight seconds (38:06) after a full days racing.
Yamaha rider,
Emilie Karlsson, finished first in the Women's class followed by Sherco rider,
Jessica Gardiner and Kristie McKinnon finishing second and third respectively.
Emilie Karlsson is very happy with her victory after the third round.
‰ÛÏIt has been a good first day." Karlsson stated I feel like I am going a bit slow, but it is very slippery and there are a lot of rocks so it is hard to go really fast.
"I am looking forward to tomorrow. The event is well-organized and I am enjoying my time here in Goomburra," she added.
The Vet‰Ûªs saw
Kirk Hutton finishing first.
Damian Smith came in second with
Craig Weise finishing three minutes behind him in third place.
Master‰Ûªs class had
Mark Cockerill finishing first today setting a time of 22.17.
Ian Jenner second and
Micheal Murray just forty seconds behind him in third.
Dylan Heaton took the lead in the J4 class.
Today will see the riders return to Goomburra, situated near Warick, Queensland for round four of this years championship.
