The event which starts with rider sign on and scrutineering in the main street of Mildura is fast putting it self into contention as Australia's biggest off road event with a record 570+ junior and senior riders entering the 2012 race.

On Saturday, Price qualified fastest in the all-important Prologue, setting the pace with a 3:14.053sec. His effort was a full 4.5 seconds quicker than the remainder of the field.

Price was relentless in his quest for victory at Hattah on Sunday, finishing the gruelling eight-lap race in four hours, 16 minutes and 21.135 seconds. Price finished 5:48.948sec ahead of his nearest rival Josh Green aboard his YZ-450F with Green's team manager AJ Roberts finishing third.

Price made the most his number one starting position clearing out early, leaving his competitors literally in his dust in the driest conditions the event has seen over the past three years.

With the 2012 event's first lap consisting of a 40Km loop with the final seven laps taking in a 37km loop, the KTM team played it safe and refuelled Price at the end of both the first and second laps to ensure their fuel calculations were right.

The decision was certainly the right one with some of the other top riders in the 2012 event being ruled out of contention due to failing to complete the opening two laps due to fuel consumption issues.

Even with the extra fuel stop and some minor mechanical issues mid race, Price was unstoppable again in 2012.

‰ÛÏThe Hattah Desert Race came together really well in 2012 and it‰Ûªs definitely nice to get another win under my belt,‰Û

KTM Team Manager Brad Williscroft was happy not just with Price's performance, but with the whole team over the course of the weekend, even though not quite everything went to plan. Team rider Chris Hollis was forced from the race early in a big crash that left both him and his bike with more a little damage.

‰ÛÏIt was a really good weekend for the team and for KTM, apart from Chris‰Ûªs unfortunate crash,‰Û

For second placed Josh Green is was an event of firsts. It marked his first event on the YZ450F, first attempt of a desert race, and his first ride back from a broken scaphoid, however none of these obstacles were able to keep the 22-year-old from success at the gruelling event.

‰ÛÏI did have one drama ‰ÛÓ I was riding my back brake too much and boiled it, which cost me a few minutes,‰Û
