Round 5 of the FIM Motocross world championship proved to be roller coaster ride for ICE1RACING‰ÛªS, Dean Ferris over the weekend.
Being held at the Beto Carrero circuit in Brazil, the race marked the second stop on the South American continent with Ferris thriving in the hot and muddy conditions.
A very strong qualification race on Saturday with a 5th place finish set Ferris up with a good start gate for Sunday‰Ûªs race, which would be crucial after an overnight downpour drenched the circuit for moto one.
Getting out of the gate well Ferris rounded the first lap in 3rd place and was setting some impressive lap times in the tricky and rutted conditions. He then moved into second spot behind Christophe Pourcel when Russian Evgeny Bobryshev made a mistake.
With five minutes to go Ferris seemed to have second spot wrapped up when a small mistake caught the Australian off guard and he went down in the muddy mayhem. Ferris salvaged 11th but was disappointed with the end result.
The second moto would end prematurely for Ferris when he went down in the second turn after avoiding a pile-up in the first turn. He tried his best to work his way back into the points but then the hit a rock that de-railed the chain.
