Frenchman Mickael Pichon has put his Tiscali Honda CRF450 on pole for the second straight week at Bellpuig, Spain for Sunday's (Mar-28) round 2 of the 2004 MX1 Motocross World Championship. In 6 degree wet and muddy conditions Pichon found his way to the head of the field by clocking a 2:02,982 second lap, three tenths quicker than Norwegian Kenneth Gundersen on his KTM (02:03,289). Stefan Everts (L&M Yamaha) finished in third with a time of 2:03,713 almost a second slower than Pichon. "I'm pretty happy. I used to like these conditions before, but at this moment I don‰Ûªt like them too much. The track is a little bit difficult, but I think it's the same for everybody. During the qualifying I was more relaxed than in the free practice and also the speed was better. Tomorrow it will be very important to start in the front because with those lines it's difficult to pass." Pichon said In race one of the MX2 qualifying races it was the KTM duo of Ben Townley and Marc de Reuver who once again proved the new KTM 250 four strokes are going to be the ones to beat in 2004 when the took first and second respectively. Frenchman Mickael Maschio took his Kawasaki KX250F to third. Race 2 saw Antonio Cairoli beat home Australia's Andrew MacFarlane, Frenchman Sebastien Pourcel took third whilst South African Tyla Rattray came home in fourth.
