A large field of junior competitors took part in the opening two rounds of the 2008 New South Wales (NSW) Junior Sprint and Cross Country Series, sanctioned by the Cessnock Motorcycle Club, held over the weekend (February 16 and 17) at the Cessnock MVRG (Hunter Valley) and it was Timothy Tofil and Jessie Jenkins who proved to be the most dominant forces throughout the event.
Tofil and Jenkins, who competed in the 16 to Under 17 Years class, were victorious in the first and second rounds overall in the Sprint and Cross County sections respectively.
Overall winners in the opening round, in the Sprint section on Saturday, were Timothy Tofil (16 to Under 17 Years), Brenton Hore (13 to Under 16 Years 250cc), Benjamin Burrell (13 to Under 16 Years 125cc), Dylan Rose (14 to Under 16 85cc), Eli Eastley (13 years 85cc), Callan Hayes ( 12 Years 85cc), Jessica Gardiner (Girls), Nicholas Tomlinson (9 to Under 11 Years 85cc), Ethan Ballie ( 11 to Under 13 Years Mini Wheel), and Jye Smith (10 Years and Under Mini Wheel).
In the cross country section, held on the Sunday, overall wins were shared between Brock McLearly (10 Years and Under Mini Wheel 65cc), Sam Paul (11 to Under 13 Years Mini Wheel 65cc), Jessica Gardiner (Girls), Daniel Besz (9 to Under 11 Years 85cc), Liam Cleaver (13 Years 85cc), Dylan Wills (12 Years 85cc), Benjamin Burrell (13 to Under 16 years 85cc), Dylan Rose (14 to Under 16 Years 85cc), Jessie Jenkins (16 to Under 17 Years) and Rhys Connelly (13 to Under 16 Years 250cc).
The third and fourth round of the 2008 NSW Junior Sprint and Cross Country Series is to be held on the weekend of April 5 and 6 at Gwandalan, near Morisset.
