It's eight months and counting to the FIM Junior Motocross World Championship 2009 in Taupo, New Zealand on August 15-16.
The FIM has entrusted the hosting rights of the prestigious Junior Motocross World Championship to the Taupo Motorcycle Club which is located in the middle of the North Island of New Zealand.
This will be the first time the Junior Championship has been held outside of Europe.
In doing so, it will provide motocross racers from Australasian and Pacific nations a fabulous opportunity to participate at this great event, which practically in their back yard!
Competitors from all over the world will be wowed by the stunning scenery and the range of adrenaline activities on offer in this spectacular part of New Zealand.
Preparation is well underway at the Digger McEwen Motocross Circuit situated on the edge of the Taupo township. The sandy circuit hosted the motocross section of the 2006 ISDE. Famous riders who have enjoyed busting out laps on this track include Stefan Everts, Joel Smets, Josh Coppins, Rui Goncalves, Billy McKenzie, Gareth Swanepoel,, Mattis Karro and Ben Townley.
