New look GYTR Yamaha line up off to dream start at Horsham

Posted:

Wade Hunter took up a guest ride for the GYTR Yamaha team at the Horsham for round 7 of the Monster Energy MX Nationals on Sunday when Shaun Redhead was a last minute withdrawal.

Hunter instantly impressed posting the fastest lap in qualifying and giving the team a dream 1-2 start for the day.

Unfortunately it didn‰Ûªt carry over into the racing with Hunter taking 6-13-15 with crashes upsetting his day. Still it was a great experience for the North Queenslander and he will now continue with the team for the remainder of the MX Nationals.

‰ÛÏI was stoked at getting P1 in qualifying and was confident I could get the job done in the races." said Hunter. "In Moto one I was right there in third and catching the front two when I started to push a bit too hard and made a lot of mistakes.

‰ÛÏMoto two was a bit of a crash feast as I charged my way to a good spot after I fell in the first turn, only to fall off again later in the moto." explained the freshly crowned Pro Lites champion in Queenslands Sunny State series.

"Moto three just didn‰Ûªt work out. But, I‰Ûªm thankful to the GYTR Yamaha team for this opportunity and look forward to the final three rounds with them and hopefully giving them a good reward.‰Û

GYTR Yamaha‰Ûªs Sam Martin put together a consistent day taking fifth place for the round and now sits fifth overall in the MXD championship standings, just a handful of points away from third.

Martin kicked off his day in fine style logging the second fastest lap in qualifying and was feeling confident on the rutted and technical Horsham track. He raced his way to fourth on moto one, fifth in moto two and seventh in the final race to take 48 points and fifth for the day.

‰ÛÏQualifying and the first two races were ok, but I‰Ûªm not happy with race three." stated Martin. "I wasn‰Ûªt aggressive enough, didn‰Ûªt make passes fast enough and didn‰Ûªt race to the level I know I can."

"I feel I have let the team and myself down and I just want to get to the next round and redeem myself,‰Û
