New incentives for Victorians to grow motorcycle sport

Posted:

Motorcycling Victoria has announced that in 2012 the State Controlling Body for motorcycle sport will offer worthwhile financial incentives for clubs or individuals to recruit new licence holders to the sport.

These incentives, which came into effect on Monday, February 6, will be an exciting way for a club or individual to receive large financial kick-backs and will comprise of the Member Get Member Program and the Club Rebate Per-Membership Scheme.

MV CEO, Andrew Weiss, said that these initiatives have been introduced to help clubs and the organisation to grow in 2012: "We are really excited to be offering our clubs and members the opportunity to earn financial discounts on their memberships in 2012 and beyond."

Under the Member Get Member Program, MV will offer a $10 discount off the renewal cost of any licence for each new licence holder referred to MV by that member. You can refer to an unlimited number of new licence holders and the discounts will accumulate up to the total cost of your licence.

For example, if you have referred 15 new licence holders throughout the course of the year you will receive a $150 discount off the renewal price of your licence. The maximum discount is the total amount of the licence renewal.

In order to receive this discount the person applying for a new licence must state on their application form that they were referred by any given member. There is a new field on the 2012 Motorcycle Sport Licence Application Form titled 'Referring Member Licence Number'. The licence number of the person who has referred them must be filled out correctly in this field. This will be recorded in our database, and when it comes time for any individual to renew their licence, these discounts will be taken into account.

Under the Club Rebate Per-Membership Scheme, MV will offer affiliated clubs financial incentives for recruiting new members. For every new licence holder that is processed, MV will record which club they have nominated as being a member of (using the club stamp and secretary signature fields on the 2012 Motorcycle Sport Licence Application Form). The club will then get a $5 credit to their next affiliation fee, which could accrue up to the total affiliation amount.

For example, if the club signs-off on 50 new membership applications ahead of their re-affiliation, they will get a $250 discount off the price of affiliation. Clubs will be sent a letter on June 1 each year reminding them that their re-affiliation is due on July 1 and in that correspondence will be the discount that they are entitled to. Please note that only one incentive can be claimed per application. In the case where an individual is listed for a discount the club will not receive a rebate for that application.

"This whole idea is to help get as many new participants into our great sport, and this will hopefully see a boost in club membership, club participation, and overall membership growth," Mr Weiss added.

"We are all about taking the sport forward and continuing to grow and develop it in all areas, and these initiatives are the first of a number that we hope to roll-out throughout the year."
