The East Coast MX Series presented by Transmoto Dirt Bike Magazine has resembled the makings of a European Championship with the cold, wet and muddy conditions, and Round 3 in Canberra followed the trend.
The ACTMCC did a fantastic job providing a perfectly ripped track for the event until the rain came down hard on Thursday night.
254 riders braved the grueling conditions, gritting their teeth and twisting the throttle. The Mydrade Honeys put on a show for the competitors with the 15 second board, as well as supplying the riders with Mydrade Hypotonic Sports Drink.
Along with the other stands including TeenCee Grafix and Sponsorpoint in trade alley, MXR&D provided free suspension checks for all the riders, helping them dial in their bikes for the challenging conditions on the day.
On Saturday the juniors took to the circuit with
Egan Mastin toppling series points leader SSRacing/MXR&D rider
Aaron Tanti winning both his classes (13-u16 150cc 2st, 13-u16 250cc 4st).
Other class winners included
Brock Ninness (7-u9 50cc), City Coast Motorcycles rider
Riley Corrigan (7-u10 65cc), MXR&D rider
Rhys Budd (10-u13 65cc), Southern Highlands Motorcycles rider
Michael Driscoll (9-u12 85cc), and Motocomposites rider
Dylan Heaton (12-u16 85cc).
According the forecasts earlier in the week, the weather was meant to be clear for the weekend but to no avail, the rain came down on Saturday night and once again tested the resolve of the senior competitors.
For some riders it was too much, and they chose not to ride but the rest toughed it out. The bobcat drivers from Lindsay Civil and the ACTMCC literally moved heaven and earth to dress the track for Sunday‰Ûªs racing.
