Motul committed to the development of motocross stars of tomorrow

Posted:

Official oil partner, Motul has extended its association with the Nokia MX Nationals (Australian Motocross Championship) by becoming the naming rights sponsor of the National Cup class. Motul has been the official oil of the Nokia MX Nationals and after the successful introduction of the National Cup class last year the lubricant specialist decided to support the class especially designed for the up-and-coming motocross stars of tomorrow. The Motul National Cup is the brainchild of Nokia MX Nationals Promoter, Kevin Williams who established the category after identifying a gap between riders progressing from juniors to the professional ranks. The competition is designed to provide individuals with the opportunity to impress larger teams and manufacturers prior to gradating into the highly competitive Pro Lites class. "Over the years I have seen many riders come out of juniors and find it very tough to break into Pro Lites. The Motul National Cup builds a great basis for those who truly want to build a career as a professional racer in Australian motocross circles," said Williams. "Already we have received a huge response to the Motul National Cup with capacity grids expected for all of the six rounds of the series." According to Brenden Stoeckert, Motul Marketing Manager, the decision to sponsor the National Cup class was due to the returns motocross has developed for the company as a result of their past sponsorship arrangements in the sport. "Motul has had a long association with the National Motocross and has always supported junior activities which form the future of our sport in this country. The transition from junior to senior ranks can often make or break a successful MX career and it can be a daunting time for a young rider," Stoeckert said. "Motul believes that the National Cup is a great environment for a young rider to make this difficult transition from junior to senior ranks through a national high profile series which involves the riders competing against their fellow peers." "Motul's commitment to the future of our sport means we are extremely proud to be associated with the development of the motocross stars of tomorrow through the 2006 Motul National Cup." The Motul National Cup is based around the Pro Lite Class, with riders competing on 125cc two stroke or 250cc four stroke motorcycles. Each round of the series consists of two, twenty minute plus one lap motos. The Motul National Cup will be conducted at six of the ten rounds of the Nokia MX Nationals.
