When a guy like Motorex KTM‰Ûªs Rob Twyerould calls a venue a true motocross track you know you‰Ûªre in for something special, and that‰Ûªs the case with this weekend‰Ûªs location for the penultimate round of the Monster Energy MX Nationals ‰ÛÒ Toowoomba‰Ûªs Echo Valley.
Located at the Southern end of Toowoomba, some 120 km west of Brisbane, the circuit has been a part of Australian motocross folklore for decades and its rich combination of red volcanic clay and dramatic elevation changes appeal to both rider and spectator alike.
The Motorex KTM team enters this ninth of ten rounds well placed, with a rapidly recovering Todd Waters intent on regaining his dominant early season form, and along with it the championship lead he now sits just 11 points away from.
Waters‰Ûª spirits are further buoyed by the news that Motorcycling Australia has recognised his speed and determination by selecting him for its Australian team to attend the ‰Û÷Olympics of motocross‰Ûª - the Motocross of Nations, at Teutschenthal in Germany on September 28.
‰ÛÏIt‰Ûªs been a while since I raced at Echo Valley so I‰Ûªm excited about that and I normally go well there so it should be good." Waters stated. "I like the way it gets rutty and technical with a grippy surface and it‰Ûªs got an interesting hilly layout that‰Ûªs good for the spectators to be able to see the whole thing.
"Strength-wise we‰Ûªre getting back there and feeling confident again which is great. I‰Ûªve had a few weeks of training routine now which I needed so look for further improvements. Now we‰Ûªve just want to get some good starts and make it happen," he added.
