Youngster Kyle Middleton has managed to take out round one of the NSW Moto Trials Championship in an upset win which was held down at Nimmitabel in Southern NSW last Saturday (April 26).
Middleton, from the Expert class, managed to drop only 21 points over the entire day and took the win ahead of both current and former Australian Champions Kevin and Colin Zarczynski. In what was a pleasing performance from the youngster, Middleton only dropped a total of 7 points on his first lap which gave him a good lead, and by the end of the day he had only dropped a total of 21 points with Kevin Zarczynski dropping 23 points just two more than Middleton, while his younger brother Colin Zarczynski dropped 27 points over the entire day to finish in third place.
Other winners from round one of the NSW Championship included Don Murray (Masters), Jonathon Chellas (Juniors), Frank Hull (Post Classic), and Tim English (Veterans).
In the non-championship supported classes, Luke Anderson took the honours in the A Grade class and managed to score only 26 points on his way to finishing ahead of Martin O'Connor and Simon Van Baleen. B Grade saw Shane Deane take out the win ahead of female competitor Kristie McKinnon and Sam Bingley.
In the Clubman class the win went to Keith Marchant who dropped only 10 points in front of another female competitor in Michelle Loone and Bill Guthrie for second and third.
The second round of the NSW Moto Trials Championships will be held at the Mount Kembla MVRG, near Wollongong on the South Coast of NSW, Sunday, May 18.
