Michael Rutter will replace the injured Steve Plater on the HM Plant Honda Fireblade in the Superstock race, at this year‰Ûªs Isle of Man TT.
Michael, nicknamed ‰Û÷The Blade‰Ûª, is a fan‰Ûªs favourite and his racing performances have earned him accolades across British and World short circuit racing, as well as legendary status on the road racing scene.
It was a case of natural progression for Michael, as he grew up with motorcycle racing as the son of eight times TT winner Tony Rutter. Michael made his debut in the TT Races in 1994 and has stood on the coveted TT podium a total of nine times.
The 38-year old from Bridgenorth in the West Midlands will ride for the HM Plant Honda team in the Superstock race as #16, but will also compete on a privately entered Honda machine in the Superbike and Senior TT races.
Michael commented, ‰ÛÏIt‰Ûªs great to be joining the HM Plant Honda for the TT. I‰Ûªve got great memories from riding for them back in 2005 when we claimed third in the British Superbike Championship and also won a Superbike race at the North West 200.
"Me riding in this year‰Ûªs TT was becoming a bit questionable a few weeks ago due to lack of machinery, so I can‰Ûªt thank Honda and HM Plant enough for enabling me to compete in the Superstock class to replace Steve. The Fireblade and the HM Plant Honda team are the best out there so with that package my plan is to go out and try to secure a podium finish, for my own satisfaction and to also repay Honda and the sponsors for this opportunity.‰Û
