It's all systems Go in preparation for the upcoming Melbourne Enduro-X on Saturday, 5th February, 2011 at Broadmeadows, Victoria.
The event itself is progressing well according to promoter Dave Robbins.
Current progress on the event includes the signing of the top 15 riders in Australia, together with a host of support expert and under 19 class riders. A total of 100 riders will be racing for up to a total of $13 thousand in prize money.
The Pro Riders list currently includes, Australian Champion, Toby Price, Jarrod Bewley, Dale Martin, Ben Grabham, Chris Hollis, Rick Miles, Glenn Kearney, Josh Green, Daniel Milner, Mitch Harper, Peter Boyle, Stefan Merriman, Danny McConville and Matt Phillips.
"Major sponsors have jumped on board who see the event as a chance to advertise to a motorcycle public starved of enduro type competitive events for spectators," Robbins said.
"As the trail rider group is the largest of motorcycle rider groups, seeing the best riders in the country compete over obstacles similar to what they ride in, is a chance not to miss. That is not to count out any motocross fans. The action is fast and furious like any motocross or supercross! There is always a friendly rivalry between the off road racers and the motocross racers for bragging rights at the end of a days racing," Robbins added.
Alpine Star, Motul oils, Force Accessories and POD MX are major sponsors of the event and will have course obstacles named e.g. Motul Mountain. Other sponsors Dunlop, Hammerhead Design, Mountain Shade, Thor, Chads Off Road Set Ups, Riders Edge, will also have naming to sections of the course.
Up to 200 truck loads of soil and earthmoving equipment are shaping the venue to cater for over four thousand spectators in a terraced viewing area. Rocks, logs, tyres and a start gate have been moved into the venue in readiness to place into position on the course over the 2 days prior to the event. Semi trailers of toilets and catering vans will move in on the day.
"The venue will be in good shape in time for the event. In the 3 weeks we have released details of this event our web site www.enduro-x.com.au had over 24,000 visits," Robbins enthused.
Professional commentator,
Lee Hogan will be calling the event as riders pass through the course obstacles. The racing format will be similar to super cross where there will be heats, qualifying and finals with the day finishing with a final of the days top ten riders.
"As an incentive we have given a wild card into the final for the top under 19 and expert riders." Robbins concluded.
There will be an extensive PA system in place so every spectator will hear all the action.
Tickets are available from selected Victorian Motorcycle stores and will also be available at the gate. We still have some positions left for riders, but be quick as the event has filled very quickly.
