Kawasaki‰Ûªs Meghan Rutledge has finished on the podium at The Grand Prix of The Netherlands over the Easter weekend, where Kawasaki KX250F rider went 2-2 for 2nd overall at the FIM Women‰Ûªs MX opener.
Used to warmer Sydney weather, 17 year old Rutledge rode extremely well in freezing conditions in The Netherlands to kick off the Women‰Ûªs World MX Championship in brilliant fashion.
Rutledge qualified perfectly on the sand track winning the qualifying race to give herself a good gate pick for the main event.
An average start in the first moto meant Rutledge had to battle her way to a 2nd place finish. She managed a better start in the second race the following day and worked her way from 5th place into the lead by lap 2.
Rutledge fought hard to hold onto that lead however a small crash on the second last lap put her back to 2nd place. Rutledge's 2-2 results gave her 2nd overall for the round and the series.
‰ÛÏI fought so hard and I‰Ûªm disappointed not to come away with the win but so excited to finish on the podium." Rutledge stated. "That red plate was mine in the second race.
"I so wanted to win but I was so exhausted and the small get-off cost me the race win. I just want that red plate so badly now.
"This has been a great experience for me and I loved the challenge.‰Û
