2011 Australian Women's Motocross Champion Meghan Rutledge and 2011 Australian Junior Girls Motocross Champion Mackenzie Tricker attended the Annual Cumberland Courier Newspapers Junior Sports Star Awards Wednesday Night at ANZ stadium after both being nominated for a Junior Sport Star award.
The Junior Sports Star category rewards an athlete who shows the greatest achievement in their chosen sporting discipline. Rutledge was nominated through the Macarthur Chronicle and Tricker through the Rouse Hill times.
Up against some of Australia's best talent in all disciples of sport, the pair unfortunately were unsuccessful in winning the Junior Sport Star award this year but were both proud to have been nominated and to have represented the Motocross Industry.
Neither left empty handed though as each of the girls walked away with a $145 Rebel Sport Gift Voucher. Previously Tricker has won the Young Achiever award in 2008 and the Junior Sports star award in 2010 while Rutledge won the Young Achiever award in 2009.
Both girls now head over to the USA, Rutledge heading to the West coast where she will train and ride against some of the fastest AMA MX racers on the So Cal tracks. However Tricker heads back to the East coast where she will base herself at the Millsaps Training Facility while competing in different events around the USA.
Tricker joins other Aussie riders Luke Clout, Kieran Tisdale and Errol Willis who are already training at the world renowned MTF. Both Tricker and Rutledge will be back for the NSW State Championships in April at Moree.
