Mathis Valin is set to race at his home Grand Prix this weekend, marking his third appearance in the FIM MX2 Motocross World Championship.
After sitting out the second moto in Spain following a crash in the first race, Valin is confirmed to compete in the Grand Prix d’Europe at Saint Jean d’Angely, just an hour and a half from his hometown.
The talented teenager, who won an EMX250 European Championship round at Saint Jean d’Angely last year, is very familiar with the track. His fans will be cheering him on as he returns to racing one week after his crash in Spain.
“Mathis rode an excellent first moto in Spain, holding fourth position for over 20 minutes and maintaining a calm pace in tough conditions. Unfortunately, he had a small crash and twisted his wrist. Initial medical checks at the track were promising, and follow-up exams on Monday confirmed there was no fracture. He’s undergone physio and rest throughout the week, and when he practised on Thursday, his wrist felt good,” said Kawasaki Racing Team (KRT) manager Antti Pyrhönen. “While he won’t be 100% yet, he’s fit enough to race, and we’re really happy that he’ll be able to race his home GP, his first-ever Grand Prix in France.”
The Kawasaki Racing Team had a busy week, dealing with muddy conditions at the MXGP of Castilla la Mancha. After cleaning and preparing their bikes and team facilities, they’re now ready for the French Grand Prix. “I’m incredibly grateful for the efforts of my staff last week in Spain, where the conditions were extremely demanding, both technically and physically. From Thursday to Monday, we worked under difficult conditions, so we’re excited to move on to France, with a great paddock and a fantastic track,” Pyrhönen added.
