Ryan Marmont will be looking to defend his Australian Pro Lite Motocross Championship title at the opening round of the Nokia MX Nationals this Sunday April 15 in Broadford VIC, following another successful season wrap up in supercross.
Ryan recently claimed his second consecutive Australian Supercross Championship title and is now looking to make it two in a row for the motocross season.
Riding with the number one plate on board the KTM 250 SX-F, Marmont‰Ûªs form will change from bumps, jumps and berms to endurance with the format of motocross requiring two 30 minute motos on natural terrain set out at Broadford.
Commenting on his preparation and desire to win, Ryan Marmont said, "I‰Ûªve been doing a lot of testing on the KTM 250 SX-F with Motorex KTM for suspension set up to prepare for the rugged terrain ahead in motocross.
"There hasn‰Ûªt been a very long break between the supercross and motocross season, so I‰Ûªve had to quickly adapt to a new training regime. I‰Ûªm now focusing a lot more on endurance to ensure I‰Ûªm well prepared for the 30 minute motos of motocross.
"My brother Jay is helping me out a lot as well, it‰Ûªs good to have him alongside me for testing - he is faster which gives me something to strive for. Chasing Jay picks up my speed which will help with my game plan for Broadford."
It‰Ûªs been over two years since Ryan‰Ûªs older brother
Jay Marmont has raced in an Australian Motocross Championship, as he spent the past few years racing with KTM Factory in the USA.
Jay now rejoins Motorex KTM Racing Team in Australia to race the all new KTM 450 SX-F in the Pro Open class.
Commenting on his return to motocross racing back home Jay Marmont said, "If the recent Australian supercross season is anything to go by, I know I will be up with the front runners for the Pro Open racing, but until I get to see everyone‰Ûªs skill level it will be hard to tell.
"This will be the first time I have ridden the KTM 450 SX-F in an Australian Motocross Championship and like Ryan I‰Ûªve also had Motorex KTM Racing helping me with a lot of suspension work so the bike is well prepped for the challenge ahead.
"I‰Ûªm feeling confident to battle with the favourites for motocross after beating well renowned Suzuki factory rider, Daryl Hurley in a one off motocross event at Oran Park a few months ago. It wasn‰Ûªt a full on 30 minute moto but I still won and I‰Ûªm determined to get Motorex KTM on the podium this weekend."
Motorex KTM will also have representation in the Under 19s class at the Australian Motocross Championship with Todd Waters and Kristy Gillespie competing on the KTM 250 SX-F.
